Safety watch

Context

The emergence of safety watches has a good impact on both people and society. Lina and Wei (2008) find the family is the cell of the society, and only the peace of the family can have social stability. Take China as an example. Since July 2020, there have been three homicides caused by domestic violence in just one month. According to a 2005 survey by the All-China Women's Federation, of more than 270 million Chinese families, 30% have domestic violence, and 90% of the perpetrators are men. According to the investigation of relevant departments, the main form of domestic violence is the violence between husband and wife, which occurs between husband and wife. More than 85% of the victims are women, and about 100,000 families are broken up every year (Weiyi & Lie 2002). The emergence of safety watches can protect women in a time when they are in danger. The alarm signals and attack performance of watches can help women solve the problem of violent attacks they are suffering in a short time. Moreover, it can also reduce the crime rate of the society. According to the survey, long-term domestic violence is unbearable, and many victims are forced to go to extremes or even commit crimes (Jine, 2019).
Including teenagers are also beneficiaries of safety watches. Teenagers are at an age when they are receiving all kinds of information and everything they receive will affect their future development. However, school violence will seriously affect the mental health of teenagers and make them live in the shadow of school violence for their whole life, which greatly hinders the growth and development of students and exerts a negative influence on the society (Xiaolan).
Fenglian (2004) said that the studies shown that victims of prolonged oppression may develop antisocial thoughts that eventually lead to criminal behavior.
Safety watches, through timely defense and alarm, help vulnerable groups to protect themselves in time when they are hurt. This not only protects the personal safety of the victims, but also reduces the social harm.

As for the design of the personal safety device, the whole safety device consists of a watch and APP.

Watch part, because the highlight of the safety equipment is easy to carry, so it must be light and small. There are a lot of safety devices out there, but they're clumsy. At this point, a safety watch becomes the best choice, as it is more portable and only needs to be worn on the wrist.

An electric shock

The watch sends an emergency notification by double-clicking on the screen, and the information is sent to an emergency contact filled out by the wearer. Both help and location information will be sent to the police station. Pressing a button on the side of the watch triggers the watch's attack mode, and two metal probes pop up on the watch's surface to form a simple stun gun. The high voltage and low current charges generated by the stun gun can penetrate thick clothing and skin and act directly on the human body (Xiangwu, 2012). A stun gun can be used to attack the perpetrator and protect the wearer from harm. 

The watch has powerful beads at the bottom of the screen that shines brightly if the wearer is in danger. The light is divided into three blocks, strong light - normal light - flash. Direct glare can make the attacker temporarily blind, thus protecting the wearer's safety. Low light can be used as a flashlight; The flash can act as a distress signal.

Light

The watch also has the time display function of an ordinary watch, with Bluetooth function. When the phone receives a message, it will prompt the wearer with a new message through vibration.

Watches are made of rubber or washed kraft paper, which ensures that the watch is waterproof and fashionable. The purpose of doing so is to ensure the normal use of the watch, will not be affected by moisture or rust because of the water (Youping, Yong, Yiqing & Liqun, 2004).
Wearing the watch requires a fingerprint or voice recognition, which ensures that it will not be removed by anyone other than the wearer.

Alarm contact board

The APP attached to the watch can set the watch. The APP also has an alarm system and can bind contacts. Two contacts bound to each other can see the location of each other to quickly confirm whether the other is safe and the geographical environment of each other. The APP also has an analog function. For example, when a woman takes a taxi alone at night or in a remote place, she can use the software to simulate a conversation scene. You can choose single or group mode. In single-mode, the APP simulates a male talking to the wearer. In group mode, the APP can simulate the scene of a party and talk to the wearer. The aim is to protect the passenger by letting the driver know that the passenger is in contact with someone else and that they already know the passenger's location and situation.

Implementation

As for the implementation, I think the dissemination of new media is very effective. With the rapid development of information technology, the development space of new media has been expanded. Its communication mode is constantly updated, and the communication efficiency is also greatly improved (Xiao, 2020). Communication between people is becoming more and more convenient, and various mobile social networking methods emerge in an endless stream. Among them, the sharing and application of short videos is a very popular way of social communication with the help of smartphones and other mobile smart terminals in the current social development (Yan,2020). Through advertisements, short videos and other means, it is publicized on some platforms to encourage people to use security watches and download security apps. It can also be promoted in police stations and hospitals to help those who have already been hurt to avoid a second injury.

People apply for security watches on online platforms, and the price can be paid in full or by installments, depending on the applicant's financial status. This ensures adequate protection whether the applicant has money or not.
 

Discussio

As for the design of the safety watch, in the beginning, I designed the device in the form of a bracelet, ring, or other decorations, but in the end, I chose the form of a watch. Because the position of the watch is the most appropriate and the most convenient, if the wearer is in danger, you can reach out and directly fight back, which is the most direct and fast way.

The disruptiveness of safety watches is also evident. First of all, this is very different from the traditional personal security equipment, it does not need complex processes that can directly play a protective role. When you are attacked, for example, there may not be enough time to take a Micro Stun Gun out of your backpack or handbag to protect yourself or to dial 999 or 110. You just reach out and protect yourself. This is also different from the traditional alarm system, there is no need to call to report their location, the watch will directly send location information together with the alarm signal to the police station.

Because it has the similar function with the traditional watch, so the security watch has the threat to the traditional watch to a great extent. After all, a safety watch can be used as both a watch and a safety device to provide security for the wearer. The second is the impact on smartwatches, because the security watch can connect the phone with Bluetooth to conduct simple intelligent interaction with the wearer. For example, wearers can check their heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and so on through the APP. At the same time, when a message is sent to the phone, the security watch will vibrate to alert the wearer.

As the device continues to upgrade, it may also have prompted. For example, if the wearer has a certain disease, the relevant information and matters needing attention can be filled in on the APP. If the wearer fainted in a public place, the watch can first send the relevant information (illness, location of fainting, etc.) to the nearest hospital, then the watch will use the loudspeaker to loudly broadcast what the patient needs to pay attention to, alert those around him to pay attention and provide correct help.
